Hi there, dear DOM followers, today we talk again about the amazing post-rock band Final Light.

It's certainly not as good as the excellent "Carry Me Home", published some time later...

But it's still a truly enjoyable release, full of emotion and melancholy.

French Teen Idol - Enlightened False Consciousness

Electro-post-rock is the matter of today.
French Teen Idol is an Italian artist from Rome who published three albums until now.
His music is full of voice samples and glitch drums.
And of emotion.
FTI's guitar and piano atmospheres are truly valuable and will probably induce some kind of trance while listening.
Warmly recommended, you'll probably love it.

Helsingfors - Schematics

Hi, everybody, happy you decided to lose some time again here on DOM, and let's start!
Today's matter is Helsingfors, a math-rock project from London, UK. The mind behind this band is the same of "Loss of a Child" and "Final Light", James Morris, as I already said in older posts. A genius, I think. :D
Well, math-rock is not a really well-known genre, but it's pretty interesting and fresh-sounding. Describing it is not really easy... well, it's kind of a highly experimental post-rock, with sudden changes and unusual riffs. And Schematics by Helsingfors is the best exponent of this kind of music. This is the first demo by the band, and is made up of four songs, can't tell which one is the most beautiful.
More than recommended, this is mandatory, expecially if you like fresh, new stuff but you still want something on the melodic, emotional side.
Support this awesome band! Personally, I can't wait for their next release.

Final Light - Further Than You Think

Hi, everybody, here we are for a new interesting album.
Back in post-rock/shoegaze/electro-progressive, we talk about Final Light, a side project of James Morris, the brilliant mind behind From The Sky and Helsingfors.
What we have here is a really delicate yet intense album, which offers not only progressive ideas and excellent piano lines, but also some killer percussion riffs.
Tracks are lengthy and meditative, and their quality is really high.
Recommended.

This Is My Normal State - Angel Falls ++

Angel Falls is an ambient/shoegaze/experimental band from UK.
It's a really young band, so they just released this "Angel Falls ++" demo, which is almost half an hour long.
Luminous and esoteric atmospheres and vocals float into (not really) harsher moments: this is a very beautiful listen, perfect to relax and to think positive.
Nice stuff, I say. They make me remember of Mass of the Fermenting Dregs...

Loss of a child - Carry me Home + Hundred Million Angels

Here we go with another work by Loss of a Child. This time I talk about "Carry me Home", the last full-length from 2009. The style remains the same as the previous releases, with layers of distorted guitars united to piano and strings lines, but this time the work is much more mature: every song has a more personal rhythm and shines differently than the other ones... this didn't happen so much in the previous "Adam and Eve", where all songs sounded like merged into a unique thing.
Matter is, that this album touches the highest peaks of this unique genre. It's a complex, intelligent, touching release which I think you should own at every cost, no matter which music genre you prefer.

Loss Of A Child - Adam and Eve

Loss of a child is a really strange project I found about some months ago.
These guys from London produce some great Alternative/Progressive/Instrumental Rock music. The main charachteristic of the band is they blend layers and layers of distorted guitars with cleaner ones, made up of strings and piano. The result is amazingly touching and progressive, inducing some sort of trance to the listener. The contents are a bit cryptic but they become more and more clear as you listen and listen to them. An album with something to say, which will touch your heart if you'll let it. Give it a try.
